Beyond the Wild is a Catholic charity that addresses and seeks to reverse the current trend of young people losing their faith throughout their teenage years.
By fusing together wilderness and spiritual survival, Beyond the Wild offers unique wild camping retreats and events which teach people both how to survive in the wild, and how the fire of their faith can survive and thrive in our world, allowing them to become fully alive and fully who they were created to be as children of God.
These events are experiences like no other, where sessions on finding and purifying water, fire lighting, tracking and trap making, skinning and butchering, and survival shelter building, run alongside times of prayer, catechesis, Mass, Eucharistic adoration, and Confession.
This is all delivered in a fun and friendly environment spent wild camping in private woodland, with a campfire each night, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner cooked over an open fire.
As well as our wilderness retreats, Beyond the Wild offers workshops, retreat days, and “Catholic forest school” programmes to schools, parishes, and dioceses to bring our ministry to those who are unable to join us in the woods.
Beyond the Wild has had a global outreach through our resources which now includes a “Beyond the Wild” episode of “Real Life Catholic” filmed in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado now available on Amazon Prime.
